Free Smoke Alarm Info Session at Wynnum RSL

May 22, 2026

Understanding Queensland’s New Smoke Alarm Laws

Important changes are coming for all Queensland homeowners. From 1 January 2027, new smoke alarm laws will require all homes across the state to have compliant interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed. These changes will affect owner occupiers, landlords, and anyone planning to sell or lease their property.

To help residents understand what these changes mean for your home, the Queensland Fire Department is holding a FREE Information Session at Wynnum RSL on Wednesday 17th June from 11:00am to 12:00pm.

What You’ll Learn

This information session will cover everything you need to know about the upcoming legislation. You’ll learn what the new laws require, which smoke alarms are compliant, and where alarms need to be installed throughout your home. The session will also explain how these changes may affect your home and family safety.

It’s a great opportunity to ask questions directly to the experts and make sure you’re prepared well before the 2027 deadline. Understanding the requirements now gives you plenty of time to plan and ensure your home meets the new standards.

The information session will be held at Wynnum RSL, located at 174 Tingal Road, Wynnum. Sessions run from 11:00am to 12:00pm, making it easy to drop in during your morning. Best of all, attendance is completely free.
