Free Smoke Alarm Info Session at Wynnum RSL

June 15, 2026

Understanding New Smoke Alarm Laws

New smoke alarm laws will come into effect from 1 January 2027, requiring all Queensland homes to have compliant interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed. These changes will affect owner occupiers, landlords, and anyone planning to sell or lease their property. To help residents understand what’s required, the Queensland Fire Department is holding a FREE Information Session at Wynnum RSL.

Session Details

Join us on Wednesday 17th June from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Wynnum RSL, 174 Tingal Road, Wynnum. This free community session is designed to help you understand the upcoming changes and what they mean for your home and family safety.

You’ll learn what the new laws require, which smoke alarms are compliant, and where alarms need to be installed. The session will also cover how the changes may affect your home, giving you plenty of time to prepare well before the 2027 deadline.

Why Attend

This is a great opportunity to ask questions directly to the Queensland Fire Department and make sure you’re fully prepared. If you’re a homeowner, landlord, or planning to sell or lease your property, this information session will give you the clarity you need to comply with the new regulations.

The session is completely free and open to all community members. Come along, get informed, and ensure your home meets the new safety standards. With the deadline still over a year away, now is the perfect time to understand what’s required and plan accordingly.
